My Wishlist

On My Wishlist

On My Wishlist is a fun weekly event hosted by Book Chick City and runs every Saturday. It's where I list all the books I desperately want but haven't actually bought yet. They can be old, new or forthcoming. If you want to know more click here

I have only heard really great things about this memoir, I am anxious to buy it!

In the summer of 1991 I was a normal kid. I did normal things. I had friends and a mother who loved me. I was just like you. Until the day my life was stolen.
For eighteen years I was a prisoner. I was an object for someone to use and abuse.
For eighteen years I was not allowed to speak my own name. I became a mother and was forced to be a sister. For eighteen years I survived an impossible situation.
On August 26, 2009, I took my name back. My name is Jaycee Lee Dugard. I don’t think of myself as a victim. I survived.
A Stolen Life is my story—in my own words, in my own way, exactly as I remember it

  2. This sounds like a good but difficult read. I'm hoping to pick it up myself some point soon.

  3. Hi! I just became a follower! You have a beautiful blog!

This sure sounds like a very compelling story, although I would imagine not an easy read, because of the emotional impact it carries. Still, I do love to read about how other women have survived abusive situations. This one seems to have something to do with the Mormons, and the polygamous lifestyle some of them still insist on having. I'll look it up on Goodreads.

    Thanks for sharing! : )

    Here's my OMW post:

  4. I'm curious to read your review if you get a copy. This week's wish is inspired by a book I finished while in the mountains. Please come see which book I'm wishing for.
